Alejo de los Reyes will once again be featured as guest soloist for the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society. On this occasion, he will perform a program that explores the connection between the music of the Spanish Renaissance and Baroque periods and the musical traditions of Latin America. The concert will feature historical instruments such as the vihuela and Baroque guitar, and will include pieces from Argentina, Peru and Venezuela, as well as works by 16th century Spanish vihuelists and Bach.
In addition, the concert will feature a special moment with guest artists Paula Serrano (voice) and Patricio Acevedo (quartet and charango).
The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. with an aperitif in the Members’ Lounge, a meeting space prior to the concert, which will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Busch Hall.
Since its creation in 1967, the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society has established itself as a reference for the guitar community in the Delaware Valley, bringing together musicians and enthusiasts of all ages and levels to celebrate and spread this art.
