Descripción

Tata” Cedrón's initial exposure to the music of Osiris Rodríguez Castillos took place in the 1960s when a young Alfredo Zitarrosa visited him one night at his modest home in the neighborhood of La Boca. There Zitarrosa taught him “De corrales a Tranqueras”. Shortly thereafter, he came across the sheet music that Rodríguez Castillos had published in Buenos Aires of his own works. It was González Tuñón who gave him the information that gave him access to such treasure when he invited him to visit with him the Lagos Publishing House. Many years later, we found out that the Osiris came to make that edition (probably a small edition) through the intermediation of Carlos Di Fulvio. With meticulous and careful writing, those scores were carefully kept by “Tata” for several decades. Alejo and “Tata” met in 2019 and finally the latter decided that it was the moment and the opportunity to record that repertoire, a work that also, at this time, takes a dimension of rescue and valorization of the monumental poetic and musical work of the Uruguayan author, unfortunately still scarcely divulged even in the circles of traditional music. The artist Isol, who illustrated each of the seven works that make up this album, joined the tribute. The album was recorded in 2021 and released on digital platforms and in a small physical run at the end of 2024, with a memorable performance at the Margarita Xirgu theater. We offer this version for digital download in high quality audio and graphic formats, with original artwork, as an edition to celebrate the end of the year.
