Descripción

This work highlights the work of some musicians who -despite being less remembered than the most famous ones- made an unforgettable contribution to the discography and the creation of tango. As the author says in the prologue "How many names of bandoneonists, violinists or pianists of unquestionable aptitudes remained hidden in the almost never named orchestral line-up, and that nevertheless, with their silent and valuable contribution, helped others to exalt works, to endorse trajectories and to consolidate styles". In those 80's, when this book was published, tango was languishing along with its most prominent exponents. My grandfather, Gaspar Astarita, had the brilliant idea of extensively interviewing several of the most outstanding bandoneonists of the golden age of tango; with many of them, as a result of his contact, a friendship was born. So it is that in my family collection there are letters from Mori or cassettes that Di Filippo himself (with the cards written from his typewriter) copied and sent to him with the recordings he had made a few years ago (and that a decade ago were finally published commercially, to the fascination and amazement of the whole tango world). Published by Ediciones La Campana, Buenos Aires, 1987.
